The first ever 10K and 5K run in Reaghstown Welcome to the inaugural Westerns GFC Christmas Wild Goose Chase 5K and 10K run!!
Start time: 11am on Sunday, 16th December. Cost: 10K – €20 and 5K – €10
Professional timings (chipped) provided for all those registered. Parking available and light refreshments and buns served after the race to recoup that lost energy!
Get in shape for Christmas or simply have some craic with like-minded folk! This is a timed event and is suitable for all levels from the beginner to the seasoned runner looking for a new challenge.. It’s also a family friendly event, children must be accompanied by an adult. Why not dress up for the occasion too, Santa’s, Cowboy’s and Indian’s welcomed!!
Follow the trail of the tale of Wild Goose Lodge, after which the run is named, while taking in the stunning scenery of the Reaghstown area with its magnificent views of Cooley Mountains and Slieve Gullion, while passing the historical splendour of Knockabbey Castle and Gardens.
The map displays the 5K and 10K routes (blue route is for the 10K runners/walkers while the green route is for the 5K runners/walkers).
This is the first time that both a 5K and 10K race has been organised in the Reaghstown area and to mark the occasion we will have a commerative t-shirt for everyone who crosses the finishing line. Cash prizes for the winners in Open, Veteran (40+ years) and Senior (55+ years) categories for men and women in both the 10K and 5K, so get training now!! A cash prize will also be given to the best fancy dress.
