KitKat Schools Cross Country
Senior Cross Country International at ALSAA – KBC St Patrick’s Festival Road Race

Grace Sweeney, Loreto Foxrock, was a class apart at this Schools’ Senior Cross Country International against Wales at the ALSAA Sports Complex in Dublin. Grace went to the front from the gun and was joined by team mates Tekea Gebrezgi, Lorraine McCarthy and Claire Madigan. As the race progressed Grace pulled away and won with ease. The KitKat Irish Schools’ Team with five in the first six took the team award from the Welsh Schools’.

The Boys’ race was much closer with two Irish, Niall McCormack and Michael McKillop, and Adam Bitchell and Ricky Challinor, of Wales leading the field for much of the race. It was the greater strength of Adam which saw him pull away from Niall McCormack, Clonmel High School, over the last 400m that won the race. Good backing up by Michael McKillop, John Travers, Sean McCafferty and Lee Stenson meant that the KitKat Irish Schools’ won the team event from the Welsh.
