Murphy to compete at World Championships

from Swim Ireland Barry Murphy will be Ireland’s sole competitor at the World Short Course Swimming Championships in Turkey this week.

 
The Championships which run from the 12th – 16th December at the Sinan Erdem Arena in Istanbul will see almost 1,000
competitors from 162 countries compete over 5 days of competition.

Murphy, who competed at the European SC Championships in Chartres, France at the end of November had his highest
ever European ranking when he placed 6th overall in the 50m Breaststroke Final in a new Irish Senior Record of 26.60. The
27 year old who has returned to Ireland to train at the NAC High Performance Centre is ranked 21st in the 50m
Breaststroke in Istanbul which takes place on Saturday.
