NEWS RELEASE Corporate challenge in April to test physical instead of economic well-being Corporate Ireland is being encouraged to enter teams of runners, joggers or walkers in a unique Business Challenge which will be incorporated into the Great Ireland Run which takes place in the Phoenix Park, Dublin on Sunday 5th April at 1 pm.
The Business Challenge was launched today at the headquarters in Ireland of CIT Group Finance (Ireland) Ltd in Blackrock, Co Dublin where an enthusiastic group of the company’s runners were seen off on a training run by Dublin football star, Jason Sherlock and RTE Sport presenter Evanne Ní Chuilinn.
All entrants will receive a unique Nike T-shirt before the event and finishers get a generous goody bag and chip-timed results.
Despite the economic downturn, there is ample evidence that companies and employees who invest in health and fitness reap tangible business returns to the bottom line.
Large (over 50 employees) and small (less than 50 employees) businesses from every sector of the economy can enter all male, all female or mixed teams to compete for superb trophies for first, second and third places in each category. All companies that enter 12 employees or more will be provided with an engraved plaque by the organisers for the company to present to their first finisher.
Entries can be made online at www.greatirelandrun.org or through the Run hotline – 1890 930 139. Entries for the Business Challenge must be made before 16th March 2009.
Male and female teams can have a minimum of four individuals and a maximum of eight per team. Mixed teams must have a minimum of two male and two female entries up to a maximum of eight individuals per team. Companies can enter as many teams in each category as they wish.
The Great Ireland Run is the country’s largest mixed 10k race and has grown rapidly since its inception in 2003. Last year over 8,000 people took part and this year up to 10,000 are expected for what will is a great day out for families. RTE Two television will broadcast the Run live.
Entrants are encouraged to raise funds for the Run’s nominated charities – Our Lady’s Hospice (which is supported by CIT Group staff) and the Marie Keating Foundation.
