Gaelforce West returns for a 3rd year of adrenalin, action and adventure in the Wild Wild West! With nearly 400 adventurers taking part in last year’s event, Gael Force has become the most popular adventure sports event in the country in just two years. Our competitors travel from all over the country and as far a field as the states.
Due to the uniqueness of the two races, competitors get to view and enjoy one of the most beautiful areas of Ireland while having the added edge of challenging themselves in a number of different disciplines.
Gaelforce 6 is an adventure race open to all levels of competitors, from a variety of back ground disciplines. Due to this we get an amazing array of people competing. This is our now classic one-day multi-sport challenge for solo participants with biking, running, trekking and kayaking. As the number of competitors has grown in this race and competitors seem to enjoy the format, we have not changed it for 2008. The course covers 65km, from Little Killary back to Westport, via a kayaking leg on Killary Harbour and an ascent and descent of the mighty Croagh Patrick.
For those with a bit more experience or would like to challenge themselves more, we have Gaelforce 12. This year we are making the event more accessible to competitors. To start with it will be a two day event. So competitors will compete in GF 6 on the Saturday and then continue on the second day with more challenges involving ropes, boats and navigation.
We have extended entries this year, offering 800 places to racers in GF6 in 2008. So why not join in this year and experience the challenge of the race, the camaraderie, stunning scenery and fresh Atlantic air as we welcome you to Westport in glorious county Mayo, for Gael Force 2008!
Gaelforce 6 will be running on 23rd August 2008 with Gaelforce 12 running on 23rd & 24th.
