Submitted by ncollins on www.limericktriathlonclub.com We had another great turn out for this the 2nd in the Duathlon series with 69 competitors from all over the country and even one competitor from Australia Tri giving the event a very cosmopolitan feel to it!! Another course record was broken congratulations to Elena Maslova who now holds the fastest ladies time!! Weather was good again and luckily rain stayed away for the race. With bike park built and all entrants entered and wonderfully officiated by Race Ref Rory Brennan we were all set for the off….
In the Men’s race Brian Jenkins L:imerick Tri got off to a good start on the run with Keith Heary from Carlow Tri close on his heals with Niall Collins in 3rd . Keith Heary put in a good cycle and came in 1st to T2 with Brian Jenkins 2nd and Niall Collins still in 3rd place. After the final run the men’s race finished as follows: 1st Keith Heary Carlow Tri in 49.11 2nd Brian Jenkins Limerick Tri in 50.29and 3rd Niall Collins Limerick Tri in 51.27.
In the Ladies race Elena Maslova Piranha came in 1st off the run with Lisa Horgan Limerick behind by just 2 seconds and Louise Nolan Carlow in 3rd position. Elena put in a strong cycle and widened the margin between 1st and 2nd. After the final run the Ladie’s race finished Elena Maslove 1st in 54.38 the new ladie’s course record congratulations!! Lisa Horgan 2nd in 55.52 and Louise Nolan 3rd in 59.00.
The final race in the Duathlon series is Sunday March 30th. There will be category prizes and the best of the series prizes aswell the series is now wide open so the next race will decide the winners. And finally a huge thanks again to all the Marshalls, Time Keepers and helpers who turned up on the day to help out without their help the races would not take place! And last but not least thanks again to Willie Carey for all the help.
