Press release Hello again. After a few technical hitches, we’re back up and running and can give you a brief update on the Champion Sports Cork City Marathon 2008. A copy of the entry form is now available to download at https://www.corkcitymarathon.ie/enter/
If you’d like to receive a hard copy, email your name and address to [email protected].
If you’re in Cork, you can pick-up a copy from the stands in the foyer of the new civic offices at City Hall.

Our website will be updated regularly from here until race day. We’ll get all available details up on the site as they are confirmed. A few details to note:

The course measurers are putting the finishing touches to this year’s course. There are a couple of minor changes, but it will be very similar to the 2007 course.
There will be 5 stages to the team relay again this year. Distances haven’t been confirmed yet, but again they’ll be similar to last year’s.
Course time limit remains at 7 hours.

TRAINING?
If you’re in training, there a list of race fixtures now available online at https://www.corkcitymarathon.ie/training/. It’s not exhaustive, but might give you some options. (If you know of a race that might be useful for those in training, please let us know and we’ll add it to the list.)

Couple of upcoming races to note:

There’s a Jack and Jill Run Up the Hill 10k run/walk in the scenic surroundings of Kenmare, Co. Kerry, at 3pm on Saturday April 12th. All monies raised will be donated to the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation. Further information at www.jackandjill.ie.

Bay Run ’08 Half Marathon, between Glengarriff and Bantry in West Cork, will take place on May 4th 2008. You can now register at www.bayrun.ie.
Registration will close on the 16th of April 2008, so get in early to secure your place. If you are contemplating the Cork City Marathon in June 2008, Bay Run 08 will provide you with the ideal training for the Cork City Marathon with its challenging and scenic course around Bantry Bay. 1. hello there…

this was my first marathon, and if all marathons are as well organised as your one i look forward to my next …
i found that the water stations were plentiful, and gatorade stops were just enough…
i found the course to be well set out, and had a good variation of routes…. i wasn’t looking forward to the 20mile mark, as on your elevation graph this was the highest point, to be honest with you i never even noticed any incline, i was so focused on finishing, and trying hard not to think of the pain in my thighs….
the best thing about the whole marathon, was the support of all the spectators and the runners… i had put 4 hrs of music on my i pod to listen to and keep me going, i listened to no more than 30min of it…i cant thank the people enough for giving me so much support, i got such a rush of adrenaline as i came round onto st patricks street at the end, my whole body went into Goosebumps overdrive. the pain in my thighs i had been experiencing for the past 6miles had vanished, and i felt like linford christie sprinting in the 100m at the Olympics…… i crossed the line at 3hrs 31min…. 29min better than i expected….

thank you all yet again for my first experience in marathon running.. it was fan dabby doshas!!!!!!
