On the 6th September 2014 Castleknock GAA will host the first Castleknock 6k road race. The race starts at 10am and all levels of runners and walkers are welcome. Club members, non members, friends and family are all welcome to participate in what will be a fun event starting and ending in Somerton taking participants around the Carpenterstown and Porterstown area with lots of activities before and after.

The event will take place as part of Castleknock GAA family fun day in Somerton, our home next door to the Castleknock Hotel & Country Club. It is day before All Ireland Hurling final so we are hoping for a big local and visiting crowd.

The monies raised will go towards the ongoing funding of the club so we can put as much surplus funds as possible towards the building of our clubhouse which we hope to start later in 2014.

Our Get Moving Team (GMT – Ger, Mary and Trish) are providing training for all free of charge in Porterstown Park every Tuesday and Thursday at 6.30pm through July and August, just turn up and enjoy the summer evenings.

Free Car Parking available in Somerton on the day and we are aiming to have at least 1000 runners taking part.

Dublin senior footballer and All Ireland winner Ciarán Kilkenny will also be there on the day.

Cost for registering prior to the race is €20.00 and registration is now open. Cost is €25.00 on the day on the day of the race. Runners Chip timed.
