from AAI website Calling all Coaches, Teachers and Parents in Dublin who are interested in coach education for young people between the ages of 5 to 10. There is an Athletic Leader course planned for the 5th April 2008.
The Athletics Leader course coaching course focuses on introducing the fundamentals of athletic movement to children. The aim of the Athletic Leader course is to provide teachers, parents and club members with the skills and tools to manage and lead an Athletics Program in their club or school. The course is focused on the delivery of practical information and lessons. The content focuses organising athletics games and activities for young children. It is aimed at those who want to begin coaching and assisting in their local club or school.

The content for this course includes:
• Group coaching skills and identify ways to make the coaching sessions fun
• The use of Hurdles and obstacles, tumbling, running, jumping throwing and running
• Games to provide fun in developing fitness
• Developing an awareness of the growing child and the implications on fitness activities
• Games to develop speed and reaction, using acceleration and change of direction
• The ethics of coaching including topics such as winning vs. involvement and recognising the importance of individual improvement
• Practical sessions on running and agility, jumping and throwing.
• Planning a session and a program

Venue for Course is :- Collinstown Park Community College, Rowllagh, Clondalkin, Dublin 22

Time of Course :- 9.30am. to 4.30 pm.

Cost of Course :- €60
