MONAGHAN 10 MILER AND 4 MILER THIS SUNDAY

The 2nd annual Monaghan 10 and 4 miler races take place this Sunday from the Four Season Hotel, Monaghan at 12.30. This race offers people of mixed levels a perfect opportunity to push themselves and the popularity of last year’s race is being borne out with the level of entries received already.

Runners from as far afield as Dublin, Meath, Down and Belfast have entered already with many athletics clubs from around the country pledging their support and bringing athletes to the race. Athletes from last year are promoting it in their own area’s by praising the organisation and the picturesque town and countryside that they ran through.

The 10 mile course is perfect for the more serious runner and for those training for the Dublin Marathon it is the exact kind of preparation needed. The route for the 10 mile was greatly praised last year and with this in mind the organisers decided to keep to the same course.

The 4 mile race is a great option for the fun runner and walkers. With more and more people taking their health and fitness more seriously this is an ideal way to spend a Sunday afternoon. A new 4 mile course has been chosen so that the fun runners and walkers will travel through the town and get the encouragement they need from people lining the streets, finishing back at the Four Seasons Hotel.

Every participant will receive a goody bag and a t-shirt to commemorate the race. A fun and somewhat challenging day is ahead for those who wish to take part.

Registrations can be completed online at runireland.com in their events section until Friday or on the morning of the race in the Four Seasons Hotel. All athletes are requested to be in the Four Seasons Hotel no later than 11.30am on the morning to ensure that the race will go off in time.

This is a non-profit event with any profits made being donated to local charities. The Monaghan Town Council and the HSE are backing this race as they know the importance of giving the people of Monaghan events to help encourage a healthier way of life.
