CHIP TIMED EVENT  *******ONLINE ENTRIES NOW OPEN***********

Thanks to all for making the 2011 Marathon Cool Down such a Success Last Year!!  The Marathon Cool Down will be in ‘The Phoenix Park’, Dublin for its third year.   Consisting of a measured 8 miles or 12.87 km.  This event is open to all levels of  runner and walker.  Whether you are using it as a cool down, or for continuance of mileage or as a precursor to up and coming events, this distance will suit.

For the more competitive runners there will be cash prizes for 1st , 2nd & 3rd Male and Female.  Category Male & Female, 40+, 45+, 50+, 55+.

So why that distance?

Well firstly we thought a 5 mile was too small, a 10 km a little short to for any one who just ran the Marathon and well, a 10 mile, a little too much to soon.  So that is why it is a 8 mile.  Then we had to find a course that would suit and well be a little different from other park events.   To the best of our knowledge and that of the OPW, this course has not been offered before.

The course is as flat as we could make it, with just a hint of what next years hill training will be like.  The course is a mixture of grass, tarmac path, little road and some cool trails.  Offers you the choice to stay on grass for nearly 80 % of the route to be gentle on any sore legs, or a near 60/40 of grass and tarmac.

Race start and finish is on Furze Road at 10.00 am,  Saturday 10 November 2012.
