Maiden of Mourne 5k Road Race1km – 5 Laps
The Maiden of Mourne Race is back for 2012 with a few changes. Due to an increasing demand for 26 Extreme to stage a road race we have put together an exciting new event that will let you pound the road around Warrenpoint for 5km without leaving the town.
The race will take the form of a 1km circuit starting and finishing on the front shore in Warrenpoint close to the Whistledown Hotel and East Coast Adventure. Competitors will run/walk the 1km circuit 5 times consecutively with Championchip timing keeping you on track and “in the loop” Because all the action is taking place in the Town, this race will be great to take part in as well as providing a great spectator sport.
The race will start and finish in the event area closed off for the gig rig and fireworks display with the race and prize giving finishing just before the festivities start.
The route will be on closed roads with marshals keeping you safe and travelling in the right direction.
The finish line will have the usual 26 Extreme atmosphere with music, water station and the friendly banter. Finishers will also be given a medal and refreshments on completion of the event with results being posted to the 26 Extreme facebook and website that evening.
Race registration will take place at the East Coast Adventure Water sports Centre from 6pm – 6:45pm with the race starting at 7pm sharp.
Pre-entry for the event will be available at run Ireland from the 13th July until the 8th of August at 1.00pm for £12pp. You will be able to enter the event on the night for £15. “We encourage competitors to pre-enter to allow us to properly anticipate and prepare for numbers and ultimately save themselves money”
