DWMRT Summer Solstice “Walk The Line” Challenge 2011

0

Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team is organising a challenge hike/run on June 25th to raise much needed funds for life-saving equipment for use by the team. This unique event will bring you across 32km of mountain, forest, trail, bog and wilderness from Kilbride in North Wicklow along a line marking the boundary between the counties of Dublin and Wicklow. Starting as night falls you’ll wind your way across peaks such as Corrig, Seefingan, Kippure, Prince William’s Seat and Fairy Castle, enjoy sunrise overlooking the mountains you’ve just climbed and finish at Marley Park in south Dublin just in time for a lovely breakfast and a decent brew.

Total distance will be about 32km and there are walking and running options. The route will be well marked and walkers can avail of an enthusiastic guide for the evening. We believe anyone with average hill walking fitness will comfortably complete this challenge and we’ll be there to take care of everyone. Registration is only 25 euro and we’re asking participants to raise a total of 100 euro in order to take part. All proceeds go straight to the team – we’re organising this ourselves so there’s no middleman. This event is sponsored by the Great Outdoors who will be providing some lovely prizes as well as lending a hand on the night.

Full details, including registration, are on the event website www.walktheline.ie

Participation is limited to 300 people.
