Belfast will host this year’s event on Bank Holiday Monday 4th May. Over 15,000 runners are expected to hit the streets of the North, South, East and West of the City.

The event has grown with the inclusion of new sponsors which now include Deep RiverRock, Belfast City Council, Sport Northern Ireland, Aer Lingus, Daily Mirror, Charles Hurst Renault, Athletics Northern Ireland, Premier Inn Hotel, Translink, New Balance, Up and Running and U105.

The nominated charity for this year will be the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, further details can be found on their website www.cftrust.org.uk

Entries will be available from the 9th September 2008 with a final cut-off point for entries on the 17th April 2009. No entries will be accepted after this date. Any entries received before 9th November 2008 will receive a 10% discount. All Marathon, Relay, Wheelchair and Walk Entries received after Friday 27th March will be subject to a £10 late entry surcharge. Any Marathon, Relay, Wheelchair and Walk Entries received between Saturday 11th April and Friday 17th April will be subject to a £20 late entry surcharge. (Any late Fun Run entries will attract a late entry surcharge of £5).

The organisers have included a £1,000 bonus again to the first male and female athlete to break the current records set by Marty Deane in 1985 and Marashet Jumma last year in 2008.

The route will remain the same as the 2008 event; starting at the City Hall and finishing at Ormeau Park.

Fee Structure:
Marathon Run – £30 plus surcharge rate of £10

Marathon Wheelchair Race – £30 plus surcharge rate of £10

Marathon Walk – £20 plus surcharge rate of £10

Times
The Marathon Run, Team Relay and Marathon Walk all begin at 9am at Belfast City Hall.

The Wheelchair Marathon begins shortly before 9am at Belfast City Hall.

The Fun Run starts at 9.20am at Belfast City Hall.

Deadlines

There are three deadlines for entry into the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon.

The initial closing date for entries is Friday 27th March. All Marathon, Relay and Walk Entries received after this date but before Friday 10th April will be subject to a £10 late entry surcharge. Any Marathon, Relay and Walk Entries received between Saturday 11th April and Friday 17th April will be subject to a £20 late entry surcharge.

Any Fun Run entries will attract a surcharge of £5
Relay – £70 plus surcharge rate of £10

Fun Run – £10 plus surcharge rate of £5

Fun Run (under 18/OAP) – £8 plus surcharge
