Proposed Athletics Coaches Association
Athletics Ireland are examining the possibility of supporting the development of a coaches association affiliated to the European Athletics Coaches Association At the recent IAAF course for elite coaches , those of us who present
from Ireland , were asked by Frank Dick ,(President of the European Athletic Coaches Association) about the possibility of forming such an Association in Ireland which would allow such a body to affiliate to the European organisation , thus accessing coaching resources and materials, and other valuable benefits , such as coaching contacts .
We also suggested that it could be useful for member coaches to meet at provincial /regional level as a forum for discussion of local needs.

Level 2 Coaching Course

A level 2 course for coaches in the East of the country will begin this weekend in Navan
The course run in conjunction with the Meath Co. Board is for coaches who are experienced at Level 1 and are interested in coaching Junior or Senior athletes. The coach may choose 2 of 4 event groups between either Sprints and throws for Module 1 and for Module 2 Jumps or endurance i.e. for example a coach can choose sprints and jumps but not sprints and throws as they will be on side by side. The course will run over 5 Friday evenings and 1 full Saturday.

TO apply complete the application form below and return to Athletics Ireland 19 Northwood Court, Northwood Business Campus, Santry, Dublin 9

The timetable for the course is as follows

15th Feb 7PM to 10 PM
22nd Feb 7PM to 10 PM
29th Feb 7PM to 10 PM
8th March 9.30 AM to 5PM

These suggestions were raised at the Coaching Committee of Athletics
Ireland, and were positively received, as a means of hearing the coaching views and needs of our many hard-working, voluntary coaches at every level.

To begin this process those that are interested in developing such an organisation might express an interest to us and give us some feedback so if you could fill out the following and return by e-mail to Gary Ryan at [email protected] or by post to Maeve Kyle c/o Athletics Ireland 19 Northwood Court, Northwood Business Campus, Santry, Dublin 9
