Super-Valu Castleblayney 5km road race
ONLINE ENTRYCLOSED BUT REGISTRATION ON DAY AT GLENCARN TOWN CENTRE (WILL BE SIGNPOSTED IN TOWN), REG OPEN FROM 11AM TO 1PM, RACE AT 2PM SHARP.
The 2nd Annnual Super-Valu Castleblayney 5km road race will take place on Sunday 2nd December 2012. The course is AAI approved and this years race will be chip timed. The course is a reasonably flat and fast course, last years winners where Darragh Rennicks (Bohermeen AC) 15.46 and Fiona Reid (Dunboyne) 18.32.
Online registration is open through Runireland.com and entry fee is €10 pre-registration and will be €12 on the day.
This year will see a €500 fund for the winners including overall Male and Female. Winners fund as follows for both male and female: – 1st €100, 2nd €60 3rd €40. Over 40’s Male 1st €30 2nd €20 and Over 40’s Female – 1st €30 2nd €20. Total on offer €500.
Each finisher will also receive a finishers medal. Almost 500 took part in last years race. Walkers are also welcome to take part in the event and it suits runners of all ability from beginners to experienced runners.
Registration and number/chip collection will take place in the Glencarn Town centre beside Super-Valu on the morning of the race, with a 1pm close off for race start at 2pm.
Tea/Coffee and refreshments will be served afterwards. Update: Dr Niall Moyna of DCU will hold a question and answers session after the race in The Glencarn Hotel for everyone to attend. Update: Are you the fastest club in the North East? The chip time race will have a club category open to all clubs, first 3 past the post from your club with their accumulated time will determine the winning club. Open to any club – GAA, Athletics, Running group, Soccer etc. Winners will receive the Fastest Club title, trophy and bragging rights for a full year! Please note no cash prize from the fund goes towards the fastest club, this is all about bragging rights! Identify your club when registering and if your club is entering mutiple teams, do so by identifying as Team 1, Team 2 etc. Good luck!
