Things are going to get tougher! Tough Mudder today announced the appointment of Galway based event management company Run Ireland as their license partner for Tough Mudder Ireland. Tough Mudder Ireland will take place at Loughcrew Adventure Centre on July 9th and 10th 2016 and is expected to attract thousands of participants and spectators over the two day weekend event.
Tough Mudder was founded in 2010 by Will Dean and Guy Livingstone. In just over 5 years this 10 mile obstacle course challenge has attracted more than 2 million participants, with over 60 events in 7 countries in 2015. Tough Mudder is a team-oriented 10 plus mile obstacle course designed to test physical strength and mental grit. Tough Mudder is all about camaraderie. It is not a timed race but a team challenge that allows participants to experience world-class obstacles they won’t find anywhere else. Tough Mudder courses feature exhilarating obstacles including "Arctic Enema," where participants plunge into icy water; “Berlin Walls,” a series of 10 foot high walls to conquer; and the infamous “Everest” – a steep quarter pipe that requires courage and teamwork to summit. The 10+ mile course culminates with “Electroshock Therapy,” where participants run through a field of wires carrying up to 10,000 volts of electricity.

Tough Mudder is challenging for even the fittest of competitors as some of the obstacles are virtually impossible to complete alone, but the course is achievable for people of all backgrounds, if they work together.
As the official license partner for the Ireland event, Run Ireland will handle the promotion, marketing, online registration as well as the event management and logistics on the day. No stranger to organising large-scale events including the Connemara Marathon, Run Galway Bay and Electric Run which was one of the largest night-time themed 5K events in the country, Ray O’Connor will use his vast experience to make Tough Mudder one of the country’s most anticipated events for the summer of 2016.
