2019 is just around the corner, and we’ve got plenty to look forward to. Whether you’re looking to set a New Year’s Resolution to run your first race, or you’re a seasoned runner, or if you’re looking for the perfect gift, here are some of our favourite events taking place in 2019.
1. RunIreland.com Resolution Run
When: January 1st
Where: Galway City Centre
This 5k road race is a great way to kick off 2019. The race is AAI certified and there is a superb souvenir gift for all entrants, Race HQ is Claddagh Hall at South Park, Galway and race start is beside the park.
2. Women Run Strong Kilkenny
When: March 31st
Where: Lyrath Estate Hotel, Kilkenny
Mixing running and prosecco – what more could you want? Run around the countryside before enjoying some bubbly, lunch and a massage at a 4 star hotel. This is the perfect gift of indulgence.
3. Run Galway Bay
When: October 5th
Where: Galway
A multi-distance, fun, flat and friendly course that has something for everyone. This one is always a sell-out event, so get yourself or your loved one booked in early!
4. Clontarf Half Marathon & 10k
When: July 6th
Where: Clontarf, Dublin
This is Ireland’s flattest course, making it great for a PB, and has sold out 10 times in a row.
5. Lough Cutra Castle Triathlon & Multisport Festival
When: May 26th
Where: Gort
This year’s event promises to be an amazing festival of triathlon & multisport with events of various distances to test those chasing a personal best and embrace those who are dipping their toes into the sport of triathlon for the very first time.
6. Tough Mudder
Where: Oldcastle, Co. Meath
Tough Mudder 2019 will be one to remember and you do not want to miss out. A great goal for the New Year as it takes place at the halfway point in the year – this is your chance to get yourself outside your comfort zone, discover what you’re made of and cross that finish line stronger than you started.
Bring your friends too – you’ll need all the help you can get.
7. Tralee Marathon
When: April 20th
Where: Tralee, Kerry
In 1997, Neil Armstrong made a speech in this area of Tralee, and as 2019 is the 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing every finisher of 2019 Tralee Marathon will receive a bespoke designed Moon Landing medal. The 2019 Tralee Marathon will be limited to only 150 runners, so sign up quick to get this once in a life time running momento of the 1969 Moon Landing.
8. Rock n Roll Dublin Half Marathon
Where: Dublin
Rock ‘n’ Roll Dublin is the most fun you’ll ever have running. Experience live music along the course and journey along the River Liffey past Christ Church Cathedral and the famous Guinness Brewery. Afterwards enjoy the headline act at the finish festival concert.
9. Mullingar Half Marathon
Where: Mullingar
With professional chip timing and prizes for the winners, this will be a great event in the hometown of Joe Dolan, Niall Horan and Niall Breslin.
10. Runamuck
Where: Coolcarrigan Estate, Co. Kildare
Runamuck Challenge is a cross country obstacle “run” event over a wet and mucky course designed to test your mental & physical strength and leave you with a big grin on your face.
