When does the Aon Mullingar Half Marathon take place?

The Race is on Tuesday the 17th March 2020 – St. Patrick’s Day

How do I get there?

Mullingar is in the centre of Ireland so is within travelling distance of almost anywhere. From Dublin you would travel west on the M4, if coming from the west you would travel east along the N4. From Galway you would travel on the N6 and verge on to the N4 at Kinnegad. The GPS Co-ordinates are Latitude: 53.52576832854349 Longitude: -7.33826637268066

What time does the race start?

10.30AM

How do I enter?

You can enter online via our website or you can enter on the day, entrants on the day cannot be guaranteed a t-shirt.

How much is it to enter?

Limited number of Early Bird Entries at €30 plus a booking fee

Limited  number of entries at €35 plus a booking fee

Limited  number of entries at €40 plus a booking fee

Entry available on the day if the event is not sold out (17th of March 2019) €50

Where is the Raceday HQ?

How do I pick up my number?/Where will the number pick-up be?

Race numbers can be picked up from the Race HQ at the following times:

Monday 16th of March: 5.00pm to 8.00pm (Provisional)

Tuesday 17th of March: 8.00am to 9.30am (Provisional)

Will the race be chipped?

Yes, the race will be chip timed 

Is the race AAI Certified?

The course has been AI measured and we have applied for our permit through Mullingar Harriers AC

Are there T-Shirts?

Yes – Each person who enters online will receive a Mullingar Half Marathon Technical T-Shirt

Are there finishers Medals?

Yes

Are there pacers?

Yes there will be pacers – 1:30, 1:40, 1:50,  2:00 and 2:10.

Will the roads be closed?

The roads will be open to traffic but well marshaled with help from the Gardaí Traffic Corps. After around 2miles runners will be on very quiet roads and at around the halfway mark runners will be on the Royal Canal which will be free from vehicular traffic

Will there be parking?

There are a number of large public car parks close to the start area and parking will be free on St. Patrick’s day.

Will I get an official time?

Yes. The Mullingar Half Marathon will use chip timing technology and every participant will receive an accurate finishing time for their race.

Is the course marked in miles or kilometres?

The course will be marked in Kilometres and Miles

Will there be water stations on the course?

There will be water stations at 3 locations along the course.

Approximately 5 km mark,10 km mark and 17 km mark and of course at the finish.

Will there be refreshments available after the race?

Yes there will be soup and sandwiches in the Mullingar Town Park afterwards for the athlete only.

Will there be Physios available after the race?

Unfortunately No

Will there be showers available after the race?

There are no shower facilities.

Will there be toilets?

Yes there are plenty of toilet facilities at the start and finish and there will also be toilet facilities at around the 5 and 9 mile mark along the route.

Where can I put my bag?

There will be a bag drop in the Race HQ, however It is recommended to travel light or store your bag in your car so as to avoid congestion at the bag drop

What time will the bag drop area be open?

The Bag Drop will be in the Race HQ and will be open from 9.30am until 1pm on the day of the event.

Can I enter on the Day?

Yes, However the charge is slightly higher at €50 and there will be no new entrants after 9:30 am – This is depending on the event not being sold out.

I have already entered but can’t make it, what are my options?

Unfortunately we are unable to facilitate refunds or deferrals of entries. For safety reasons only the person who is registered should compete – numbers should not be transferred to others.

Can I walk the course?

As this is a half marathon it is not advisable to walk the course. The St. Patrick’s Day parade is due to start in the town that afternoon so our Marshalls will be unable to remain along the route long enough to facilitate walkers

Is there a minimum age?

As the race is longer than a 10k under 18’s are not permitted to participate for insurance reasons

Where does the race start?

The race starts in the centre of Mullingar at the roundabout beside McDonalds

Where does the race finish?

The finish line will be in the centre of the Town Park (Which is adjacent to the Annebrook House Hotel)

When will the results be available?

The results should be available immediately upon completion on the timing companies website: MyRunResults

What are the Prize categories?

Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:

Male Senior, 40, 50 and over 60

Female Senior, 40, 50 and over 60

What accommodation is available?

AON Mullingar Half Marathon would recommend the Annebrook House Hotel. The hotel is ideally located if you choose to stay a few either the night before or night of the race. The Annebrook House Hotel has a special rate for those participating in the race. You can contact the Annebrook House Hotel at 044 9353300 or email them at [email protected].

There are also a number of other B&B’s and hotels in the Mullingar area.
