Sunset Run in aid of Age Action

0

The inaugural Sunset Run in aid of Age Action is taking place on Thursday 27th of September 2018 on Sandymount Promenade and Beach. The run takes place just ahead of this year’s Positive Ageing Week (1-7 Oct), an annual celebration of older people and the contribution that they make to society.

Working with, and on behalf of older people Age Action aims to make Ireland the best place in the world in which to grow older. This run, which is supported by Bank of Ireland as part of its partnership with Age Action will raise funds to support this vital work. The registration fee for the event is €20 and all of the funds raised for Age Action will be matched in full by Bank of Ireland. As a result each race entry fee will provide 2 hours of support for seniors in need.

The partnership between Bank of Ireland and Age Action aims to support older people to remain active in their communities and to stay connected. It combines volunteering, fundraising and financial support, as well as providing teaching on the basics of the internet and digital world through Tea & Teach sessions.

The Race

The race starts and finishes at Clan Na Gael GAA Club beside Sean Moore Park on Sandymount Strand (see map here). It is open to runners, joggers & walkers of all ages and the flat terrain of Sandymount Strand and Promenade makes it an ideal course to aim for a PB!
