from A.A.I Budding athletes and fun runners across Northern Ireland and beyond are being called upon to take part in the annual SPAR Omagh Half Marathon, taking place in the town on Saturday 21st March 2009. The half marathon, which takes place right in the heart of Omagh, has secured sponsorship from retail giant SPAR for the second year running, much to the delight of organisers the Omagh Harriers,
“We’re thrilled to have SPAR on board as title sponsor again in 2009 as their involvement last year helped us host the most popular and professional Omagh Half Marathon to date,” explains Race Director Michael Ward. “We had a brilliant selection of elite athletes and budding marathon runners and a strong level of entrants for our four-mile fun run, which is a great challenge for anyone who wants to get into running or to boost their fitness.”
International athletes, Maria McCambridge (2008 Irish National Champion and Irish representative for the 5000m at the 2004 Olympics in Athens) and Stephen Duncan (2008 Irish Mountain Running Champion) were on hand with Paddy Doody, Sales & Marketing Director, SPAR / Henderson Group at Belfast’s Mary Peters’ Track to launch the sponsorship deal recently (pictured).
