from Donore harriers Donore athletes were in action over the weekend with some of our Seniors and Masters running on Saturday 15th and our Juveniles out on Sunday.
In Santry Demesne Clonliffe Harriers hosted a Ladies Day to celebrate the 45th anniversary of their Ladies section. Some of the Donore Ladies took part in the open race which was the Ann and Caroline Kearney Memorial 2 Mile. Florence Curley was our first athlete to finish in 11th place with Maura Kearns, Livia Ruiz and Mary Murphy also competing. They placed 6th team.
Swansea was the stage for the British & Irish Masters Cross Country International which saw two of our athletes perform admirably. Congratulations to Mary McDermott on winning a silver medal with the Irish team in the over 35’s and well done also to John Downes on his 4th place run in the over 40’s.
Our large group of young athletes performed very well in the last of the Cross Country league fixtures in Newbridge House on Sunday. Eoghan Meyler won the boys u15 and his sister Ellen was 5th in the girls u15. The boys under 11 team of Daniel, Shay and Gabhann ran exceptionally well as did all our young girls. Robert Swaine impressed again in only his second race, finishing a strong second. New boy Luke Foley ran very well in the boys u16 to win his category. A big thank you to coaches, Linda and John D for their great work in preparing our athletes since August. Thank you to the parents for their support. Training is as usual on Tuesday and Thursday.
