Waterford Viking Marathon 2016 takes place on june25th 2016. There is an option for all levels on the day starting with the Quarter Marathon, Half Marathon, Relay Marathon (3 person team) and the Full Marathon. Now in its fifth year, the WVM is growing bigger than ever and has just been shortlisted as a finalist for Running Ireland’s ‘Marathon of The Year.’ To date the event has welcomed visitors from all over the world. All running routes commence in the heart of the Viking Triangle showcasing the City’s hub of culture and heritage. You will then meander through the Viking city streets before heading county bound, taking in many iconic parks and buildings on route. The full marathon route takes in the Seaside town of Tramore taking in the beautiful Promenade of our most famous sandy beach.
The finish line event takes place in the Regional Sports Centre on the Cork Road which is part of Waterford Corporation’s Municipal sporting facilities and home to Waterford United of the League of Ireland. An integral hub of Waterford’s athletic culture it has been/is the training ground of many of our famous athletes. It’s a very unique conclusion for a marathon with an Olympic style lap of the track before crossing the finish line to the rapturous applause of supporters, family and friends.
