Ulster Cancer Foundation is seeking ‘active people’

0

Help UCF Keep On Running The Ulster Cancer Foundation is seeking ‘active people’ to participate in some exciting events and raise vital funds towards our lifesaving work of cancer research, care and support services for cancer patients and their families and cancer prevention programmes that help save lives. Convincing evidence has just been released, by the World Cancer Research Fund that maintaining a healthy weight, being physically active and eating a varied diet can help prevent cancer.

It has also been well documented that a slow and progressive walking programme enables cancer patients to lower the level of fatigue they experience as a result of their disease and its treatment.

Over the past 5 years many runners, walkers and triathletes have taken part in activities all over the world, raising in excess of £317,000, or an amazing £63,000 per year, to support UCF work and services. This year, with your help, we want to break the £400,000 barrier!

As you know UCF is a local charity, working exclusively in Northern Ireland for the benefit of local people. We receive very little external funding and rely on the support of the local community to continue our work, year on year.

I would be very grateful if you would promote this appeal to your members and encourage them to support it. Perhaps it would be possible for your club to incorporate some activity within your year’s programme or members may like to join in with one of our events. You will find attached full details of our 2007/2008 events; dates and what we offer for each.

I am very excited about this challenge and I hope you will feel the same way. If you would like to contact me about this my Direct Line number is 028 9068 0765 or you can email me at [email protected].

Regards and Best Wishes
