from Triathlon Ireland website Triathlon Ireland are pleased to announce a series of training sessions specifically for children in the Phoenix Park. This is a great opportunity to get your children involved in sport in a fun and safe environment. Please read on for more information on the training sessions….

Triathlon Ireland are holding a series of training/mini racing sessions specifically for children. We will be holding coached training sessions in each discipline and finish each day with a short race.

We plan to hold a duathlon (run-bike-run) and aquathon (possibly at the NAC) over the course of these sessions.

We welcome all ages to the training sessions. They must be able to cycle a two wheeler bike for the cycle sessions and be able to swim a few lengths of a 25 m pool for the aquathlons.

The first training session will be held this Wednesday 18th June, 6:30pm-8:30pm at Papal Cross in Phoenix Park. Future dates are still to be confirmed, but proposed dates are:-

Wed 25th June, 6:30-8:30pm
Wed 9th July, 6:30-8:30pm
Wed 23rd July, 6:30-8:30pm
Wed 30th July, 6:30-8:30pm
Wed 13th August, 6:30-8:30pm
Wed 27th August, 6:30-8:30pm

To participate in these training sessions, your child will need to be a member of Triathlon Ireland. The cost for the membership is a one-off €1 fee.

To register for the training sessions, please send an email to Noel Tonge at [email protected]. You will also need to complete the TI Junior Membership form – click here for membership form, and bring the form, supporting identification for child (passport or birth certificate) and €1 fee to the training session.

Triathlon Ireland will be providing coaches for each session. However, we are always looking for help from parents. So if you’re available to help out, please contact Noel Tonge at [email protected]

Please come along with your children and tell all your friends to come too. This is a great opportunity to get your children involved in sport in a fun and safe environment. Remember that after this year, the next Olympic Games are in London in 2012 – you never know how far your children could go. But no matter how far they go, triathlon is an exciting and varied sport for children to participate in.

Requirements for training sessions:
Bike + helmet…….Running shoes, shorts, top…….Change of clothes (in case of rain)

Looking forward to seeing you on the day,
