Tough Mudder is Returning to Ireland

0

Tough Mudder Ireland has announced its return to Loughcrew, Co. Meath in 2019 much to the excitement of the thousands of Tough Mudders who make the journey to the historic Loughcrew Adventure Centre to push themselves to the limit in pursuit of a coveted Tough Mudder Headband.

New to Ireland in 2019

Instead of the usual Tough Mudder Full and Half course, Tough Mudder Ireland has announced a Tough Mudder Classic and 5k course.

In a Facebook post, Tough Mudder said: “You spoke. We listened. Introducing the Tough Mudder Classic. Featuring 8 miles and over 25 obstacles, the Tough Mudder Classic is less running and more obstacles.”

The Tough Mudder Classic course is said to be shorter in distance, so less running (YAY) and will feature more obstacles including some new ones, to be unveiled in the coming months.

The Tough Mudder 5k has been described as “no ordinary fun run” and is ideal for people who “want to do a Tough Mudder but don’t have time to train.”

What is Tough Mudder?

Tough Mudder is an OCR (Obstacle Course Run) with a lot of mud. It’s specifically designed to test mental and physical strength while also placing a huge emphasis on teamwork. The course is typically 8-10 miles long and features over 25 thrilling obstacles. The obstacles range from ‘Everest’ the ¼ pipe that requires a good running start to conquer, to ‘Arctic Enema’ the Ice Bath and ‘Electroshock Therapy’. Yes, they really do electrocute their participants.

The two-day event will take place on the Estate of Loughcrew Adventure Centre on the 20th & 21st of July in 2019. This will be the 3rd year that Tough Mudder has returned to this estate and the 5th year of Tough Mudder taking place in Ireland.

With the rolling green hills and forests that go on for miles, Loughcrew makes Tough Mudder Ireland one of the most scenic Tough Mudders in the world. Steeped in history, the Loughcrew Pillars add to the look and feel of the event. Located just over an hour from Dublin and 50 minutes from Athlone, it is the perfect location for some fun in the mud.

Obstacle Reveal

Tough Mudder is yet to announce the new obstacles for the 2019 event season. The announcement is due in the coming days. Tough Mudder Ireland has been teasing the mudder community on their social channels, one post, in particular, suggests new ways to shock the participants, and we don’t think they mean the emotional shock but the literal.
