An athletic club run race designed as a fund raiser for the clubs’ juvenile training squads, the Stook is a designed to be a unique end of year blow out that combines a competitive club standard race with a fun challenge for runners of all abilities. The organisers have gone to great lengths to create a memorable race experience for everyone who toes the Stook starting line.

So what makes it different? How about the dedicated tour de france style cheering zone, the stook flying mile – a chip timed downhill mile that offers every runner aa chance of an “official” mile PB, and of course everyone walks away with a Stook 2013 cowbell.

According to race director, Simon O’Dwyer, “our aim with Stook is to grow slow and grow strong. We don’t want to be the biggest race in Ireland; we want to be the best.  This year we are  building on the great feedback we got last year– we know what we got right – friendly and welcoming atmosphere, unique cowbells, accurate course, fast results and an delicious spread in the parish hall last year and thanks to sponsors such as Amphibian King and Optimum Nutrition we were able to have some fun with spot prizes and giveaways. This year we’ve added bag drop, changing and toilet facilities at the start / finish, and of course the cheering zone and the flying mile are unique to Stook – we are looking forward to welcoming runners of all abilities to Stook on the 17th”

There are prizes for first 3 men and women home, as well as cash category prizes for winners from 35 – 65.  There is also a Liam Kealy Perpetual Club team prize for the first two men and women home on aggregate scores.
