PRESS RELEASE “Walk a Mile and Create a Smile”
“Those boots were made for walking”, so why not join the Slieve Bloom Share a Dream Walking Challenge on the 30th/31st May and help make dreams a reality for sick children all over Ireland. Dreams are very precious to all of us and we need them to motivate us to achieve many ambitions in life. Just try to imagine what it must be like for a child fighting a terrible life threatening illness, with only a dream to hang onto and where time is the child’s worst enemy…..it’s absolutely heartbreaking.
The Share a Dream Foundation is a self-funded national children’s charity established in 1990 with the express mission to make dreams come true for children with terrible life threatening illnesses. The charity also organises holidays, concerts and parties for hundreds of children suffering with a wide range of illnesses and disabilities each year.
Share a Dream is trying to bring a little magic something special into the lives of these children and their families from all over Ireland and show them that we care, as all too often they feel forgotten about in their own community. To date Share a Dream have managed to bring a smile to the faces of 19,000 children.
How You Can Help: There are 2 beautiful walks that you can take part in and help us raise funds to continue making dreams a reality:
•An amazing 50km walk in the Slieve Bloom will commence on Saturday the 30th May at Glenbarrow Car Park near Rosenallis Co Laois.
•The 20 km walk takes place on Sunday 31st May from the Community Centre in Kinnitty Co Offaly.
A Fund Raising BBQ in Kinnitty Castle on Saturday night 30th May will also take place.
Entry fee is €50 for 50k walk and €20 for 20k walk. BBQ €30
