Dear Athlete
It’s that time of year again when the Waterways Ireland triAthlone comes to town!
For 2012, we host the Irish National Standard (Olympic) Distance Championships, in addition to the 1
st ever Irish National Paratriathlon Championships! Alongside these 2 landmark events, we also host a Sprint Distance and Try-A-Tri events.
The race will take place on Saturday June 30th, with the first swimmers in the water at 3pm (exact wave start times will be posted in June once race registration closes). This Saturday afternoon race features the same course used in the 2010 European Triathlon Championships which saw over 4,500 triathletes descend on Athlone for the biggest European Championships ever staged.
The stunning backdrop of Athlone Town Centre is not just used for the run route, but also sets the scene for the post-race party that has grown to legendary status over the last number of years. Come to Athlone, enjoy the challenge of the event, and stay the night for the single biggest annual party in the Midlands!
