Run Wild , Run West – Come to Mayo and run with the best….

River Moy 1/2 Marathon, Ballina, Co.Mayo this Saturday the 12th May 2012 The River Moy ½ Marathon are delighted that one of Ireland’s most renowned motivational speakers, authors and athlete will be running in the River Moy Half Marathon on the 12th May 2012 in Ballina,Co.Mayo at 11am. As well as inspiring many to take on the challenge to run, Gerry, is going one step further and will be present at registration on the morning of the race to sign copies of his best selling book ‘Who Dares, Runs’.

Alan Murphy Race Director said “Following feedback from last years’ participants, that River Moy ½ Marathon are concentrating on keeping the standard of the race high but also making improvements, this year we are delighted to have six pace groups for the race ”

The website www.rivermoymarathon.ie gives a good indication of the variety of scenery encountered throughout the race as well as the calibre of the event. It is hoped that all participants feel a great Ballina welcome, before, during and after the race. This year around 500 runners, joggers and walkers are expected to line up at the start including at least a dozen participants travelling from the U.K specifically from Leeds for the weekend.

Registration for the race takes place in the Ballina Rugby Club, on Friday the 11th of May from 6pm to 8pm and Saturday morning 12th May from 8am to 10am. During registration. All participants will receive a technical running shirt, a medal and a goodie bag sponsored by Molloys Lifestyle Pharmacy which have been described by some as the best on offer at any running event in the country. The race has been organised to meet the very highest standards, the course has been accurately measured and has an Athletics Ireland permit. All times are recorded digitally and this year will be available in the Irish Independent on Monday the 14th May, so all participants will be encouraged to buy a souvenir copy. At the finish line on Saturday there will be a festival-like atmosphere with music and live commentary as athletes cross the line. For those tired and hungry athletes, after they have collected their medals, there will be complimentary refreshments and massage by Simon Walsh and co. of the Mayo Massage Clinic.
