The Sunday Business Post is the first national news sponsor of the Run Kildare series 2012. They will be supporting the event and covering our progress in the paper in frequent updates in the preparation and lead up to the Marathon, just one of three events along with the 10k and half marathon taking place at the Curragh race course this coming May 13th.
Run Kildare 2012 along with Donadea Running Club has contrbuted €500 to the Rith 2012 cause and is inviting everyone that wants to jog 5K to meet up with us. Organisers and supporters of Rith a biannual festival celebrating the Irish Language, hope to complete the challenge of getting a specially commissioned baton containing a secret message of support for the Irish language across 15 counties/75 towns of Ireland, a grand total of 700km in just 10 days!

Do you want to help carry a baton containing a secret message of support for the Irish Language?
How do I participate and get involved? On the 13th March, which is day 6 the relay race, the baton will be passing through the country of Kildare. For those who would like to get involved in this FREE 5k event, all you have to do is come along to K Bowl where the jog will kick off at 2.00pm sharp.
Not only will you be showing your support for the celebration and survival of the Irish language but also, those in training for the Run Kildare 10k series can use this as a little warming up exercise.
Where? K Bowl Unit W8B/C Ladytown Business Park Newhall Naas Co. Kildare (beside Tohers Business Park and Garage on the Naas/Newbridge road). What time? The run will start at 2.pm sharp. You are advised to come early to give yourself time to park and warm up.
Where will it finish? It will finish just before Newbridge town. It is a distance of 5km
Run Kildare is also delighted to announce that there are 1200 runners already signed up for the 10k, half and full marathon. That is a huge increase compared with this time last year! All three races have something to offer, no matter what class of runner you are. The varied terrain here on the Curragh plains will not disappoint nor can be experienced anywhere else in the country.
A warm welcome awaits you, as there promises to be a lot of local support on route with full support coming from the local chamber of commerce and Kildare Sports partnership.
Thank you for choosing the Kildare Marathon 2012. I look forward to seeing you all on the 13th of May 2012! Fionnuala Finegan [email protected]
