Road racers get Stook in for Kilkenny clubs

10-mile and 5k Stook road races Runners and walkers of all ages and ability are invited to take part in two road races in Kilkenny on November 23.

The 10-mile and 5k Stook road races, now in their third year, are a fundraiser for the development of facilities for juvenile squads at Gowran AC and Young Irelands’ GAA.

The 10-mile run is set over a challenging but enjoyable route across beautiful Kilkenny countryside. With stunning views from Stook Hill, every participant will be rewarded with 2.5-miles of continuous downhill to the finish line in Dungarvan village.

The Stook 5k Dash is a fun, family and fitness event that takes in much the same beautiful scenery but without the same steep hills.

Entry fee is €20. Both races start from Dungarvan Church, three-miles south of Gowran village and a 15-minute drive from J7 on the M9. There will also be individual, category and team prizes on the day.

Changing facilities, refreshments, sandwiches and cake will be provided for all at the parish hall afterwards.

Online registration for both races is at runireland.com – or keep in touch on facebook.com/gowranac
