The Forest Marathon, 50km, and 100km Races took place in the National Forest Park in Portumna, Co. Galway, Ireland on 16th June 2012. This was the 3rd year of the event and this was the biggest event yet with record numbers in the marathon, 50km, and 100km races and if that wasn’t enough a 10km mini marathon took to the route in the afternoon.
The race itself took place on a flat 5km loop around the forest park and marina area in Portumna.
The top three in the marathon were Peter Mooney (2:48:01), James Doran (2:53:28) and Martin Halvey 2:55:41. First lady home was Jane Ann Healy (3:06:38).
Top three in the 50km were Mike Cunningham (3:27:25), Mick Rice (3:29:06) and Shane Whitty (3:31:47). First lady home was Deirdre Finn for a third year in a row (4:00:04).
The 100km top three were Ger Copeland (8:33:19), Graeme Colhoun (8:39:34) an Iveagh Jameson (9:03:17). Susie Ro was first lady home (13:39:13).
The 10km mini marathon organised with entries to Portumna Sign Out Cafe was won by Michael Boyhen (39:01), Barbara Clancy was first lady home in (43:45)
