U18 Steeplechase Boys and Girls
Due to an error in previous notification the distance for U18 Boys and Girls Steeplechase will be 2000m.
Provincial secretaries have been notified.
Boys U19; Lorcan O’Cathain (Roscommon AC), winner of the junior 200m last Sunday will again face tough competition from David Killeen (Leevale AC) and Mark Kavanagh (Dundrum South Dublin AC).
Boys U18; Paul Scanlan (Leevale AC) and Joseph Dowling (Dundrum South Dublin AC) both set new PBs when finishing second and third in the junior 400m last Sunday and will again be hard to separate. St. Abban’s AC athlete Stephen Attride is in flying form at the moment after a great win in the Irish School’s. He will be another looking to make an impact this weekend.
Boys U17; Ruairi Finnegan (Letterkenny AC) was in record breaking form at the Tailteann Games 1,500m.
Boys U16; Patrick O’Connor (Clonliffe Harriers) won both sprints at the Tailteann Games last Saturday and will again face the tough challenge of Marcus Lawlor (St. Laurence O’Toole AC).
Girls U19; Irish junior record holder Caoimhe King (Westport AC) will be favourite to add another national title, while Catherine McManus (Celtic AC) in the 100m hurdles, and Claire Mooney (Naas AC) in the 400m will also start favourite in their events.
Girls U18; Joanna Mills (Ballymena & Antrim AC) is close to the 6.10m long jump qualifying standard for the World junior championships, and Katie Kirk (Lagan Valley AC) is also close to the 54.80 400m standard, and both will give it everything here.
Girls U17; Emerald AC athletes Sarah Lavin in the sprints and Amy O’Donoghue in the middle distance events will be favoured to follow up on recent successes. Grainne Moynihan (West Muskerry AC) will also be a strong contender in the sprints.
Girls U16; Ciara Giles Doran (Ferrybank AC) has been in tremendous form this season in the sprints and hurdles, while Siofra Buttner Cleirigh should continue her front running tactics in the 800m and 1,500m.
