“No running distance, or field event for that matter, has the history, the appeal, the “magic” of the Mile. The Mile, like the 100 metres and the marathon, is a running event that most of us know something about or have a general feeling for. We don’t need to think of Roger Bannister, we can simply look at our own local heroes like Ray Flynn, for inspiration. So, regardless of whether you think you can break the four minutes barrier or whether you’d just like to see how the body holds up to 1600m, this event is for you!
