By John Desmond Races in Cork & Munster…Thurs 26th to Sat 28th of June. The main event in Cork this week is the 2nd race in the Ballycotton 5 Mile Summer series which takes place in Shanagarry, East Cork on Thursday evening at 8pm. Going on the record numbers attending races in Cork recently, it is expected that this race will attract close to 300 entries. Shanagarry is located on the main Cork to Ballycotton road and entries will be taken from 7pm onwards.
The following day Friday the 27th, there is a 5km race accross the border in Villierstown, West Waterford, hometown of former Marathon Silver medalist John Tracey. This race, the Dromana 5 Mile, starts at 8pm.
On Saturday the 28th, there is the first running of a charity 10km race in Courtmacsherry in West Cork at 5pm. Elsewhere in Munster, there is a big 10 km race in Ennis at 10am while there is a Muntain running event in the Galtees at 1pm.
