Race2Glory 2012 is launched by Keith Duffy Race2Glory 2012 was launched in association with Irish Autism Action (IAA). Keith Duffy, leading Irish celebrity and ambassador for Irish Autism launched the 40 Kilometre Adventure Race, which will return to Kiltimagh, Co Mayo for the second year running on 14th July 2012.

Keith Duffy was highly enthusiastic to lend his support to Race2Glory and if work commitments allow he plans on competing in this year race. Keith sees Race2Glory as the perfect test to see how his training regime for this year Galway Iron Man is coming together.

Following the huge success and high appraisal of the 2011 route the race will continue to incorporate a 10 kilometre mountain run, 23 kilometre cycle and a 7 kilometre river run. Race2Glory 2012 promises to build on the success of the inaugural race in 2011. The race is already on track to become a huge success with the return of Padraig Marrey, Gael Force Champion 2010 and Irish Adventure Series Champion 2011 (which Race2Glory is apart of), who is once again taking up the position of race co-coordinator. Although the Race2Glory route will remain the same organisers are adding new elements to the race including a team category to find the “Fittest Company in Ireland” and supporting the worthy cause of Irish Autism Action by offering the race as a platform for participants to raise money for this worthy cause.

Race2Glory is a race which is designed for everyone; while it challenge the best adventure racers it remains achievable for other athletes of all levels and also provides an opportunity for anyone who just wants to raise money for charity. Padraig Marrey, who was responsible for putting the stages of the race together encourages everyone of all levels of fitness to sign up for the race as the challenge is to finish the race and not about finishing it in a particular time. Mr Marrey said: “The Race2Glory course is an ideal training ground for all those who are preparing for Gael Force West 2012. We were delighted with the calibre of athletes that took part in the race last year including some of the country’s top adventure racers who have rated the route as a real challenge and look forward to returning to the race in 2012. However many participants had never taken part in an adventure race before and were successful in completing the race within exceptional times and were delighted with the accomplishment. With a good training regime this race is possible for individuals of all levels while offering a challenge to those who want to beat the times set last year”.

To build on the success of 2011 the race organisers wanted to incorporate a team element to the race and decided on setting the challenge to find the “Fittest Company in Ireland” Race2Glory are inviting companies to enter a team of four into the race to battle it out to see who are the “Fittest Companies in Ireland” The top three times from each team will be added together and the and the fastest combined time will be crowned "The Fittest Company in Ireland". However regardless of being entered as a team all entrants will be involved in the race as individuals and their times will be ranked among all other entrants.

As well as the team challenge this year Race2Glory has also offered the adventure race as a platform to raise much needed funds for Irish Autism Action. Commenting on this new addition to the race Chairman, Brendan Mooney said: “Following the huge interest in the race last year we decided to offer the race as a fund raising opportunity for anyone who wanted to raise funds for this worthy cause. We decided to endorse Irish Autism Action (IAA) because of the strong links Kiltimagh has with Irish Autism Action which set up a school in Kiltimagh for children with Autism in 2007. Also we want to encourage everyone to take part in the race and raising money for charity maybe the motivation they need!”
