With less than 10 days to go till ye guys are all heading off up “Spankers Hill” on stage 1 of Race2Glory, I hope the training is going well. As most you will know, Padraig Marrey our race co-ordinator was involved in a successful World Record attempt last weekend, and along with Padraig a number of now World Record Holders (Mary Mulchrone, PJ Hall, Noel Brady, etc…) will be among the R2G competitors.
Sign on for Race2Glory will take place in The Cill Aodain Court Hotel (middle of Kiltimagh), on Friday evening between 6.30pm and 9pm and again Saturday Morning between 9am and 11:30am. At registration you will receive your race number, map, a Race2Glory Cooltex Tee Shirt and few small bits and pieces (Race Starts at 1pm).
After registration you can make your way to Kiltimagh GAA Pitch, this is both the start point and first transition point (please cycle down as we want as few cars on Park Road as possible). There are 3 main Car Parks in Kiltimagh all within walking distance of both The Cill Aodain Hotel and The GAA Pitch. The car parks are located at the back of the church, beside Super Valu and beside Kiltimagh IRD. Kiltimagh isn’t that big and if you ask someone they’ll point you in the right direction.
We plan to have a real feel good factor at the finish line with a bounce castle and face painting for the kids, a DJ playing in the Market Square and the hotel will have a BBQ for supporters. We are also holding a special photo competition for the best action shoot taken during the race, with the prize being a state of the art Fuji Digital Camera.
After you have completed the 40Km spin around the highways and byways of Kiltimagh, you will receive a Race2Glory engraved medal and BBQ. We will have a number of masseuses on hand to give you a rub down and there is even talk of a few ice baths !!!
Looking forward to seeing you all in Kiltimagh.
