Croí the Heart & Stroke Charity are calling upon sport enthusiasts from all over the country to take on the challenge of the IRONMAN 70.3 Team Relay. The Charity are the official charity partners with the IRONMAN 70.3 Team Relay, and all entries will support their work in fighting heart disease and stroke, Ireland’s biggest killer of men and women. Swimmers, Cyclists and Runners can all be part of this world famous IRONMAN Triathlon Brand by taking part in the Team Relay.

Speaking on behalf of the Charity, Barry McCann commented "We are delighted to be the charity partner with the Relay again and we look forward to building on a very successful relationship with IRONMAN last year. The event raised over €25,000 in 2011, which goes along way to support our wide range of health and educational services." The charity are encouraging people of all sporting backgrounds to get a piece of the IRONMAN action this year. Mr McCann continued “Consisting of a 1.9km Sea Swim, a 90km Cycle and a Half Marathon, the team relay makes the IRONMAN 70.3 Triathlon accessible to men and women who are not strong in all three disciplines, enabling them to focus on either the swim, bike or run. The electronic timing chip, worn on the ankle, will act as the baton for the team and is passed from swimmer to cyclist and cyclist to runner in the transition area. Team members can then join up on the last dash to the finish line to receive their IRONMAN 70.3 medals and finisher’s T-shirts.” The Relay entry is €700 per team which includes the charity contribution to support the fight against heart disease and stroke. A €50 deposit is all that is required to secure your team’s entry, with the balance being fundraised, paid for by the team or you can have a team sponsor.
