Ultra running event With only 3 weeks left until the World record bid on Croagh Patrick, Westport’s leading outdoor and adventure clothing company are supporting the 13 participants who aim to climb the Reek 12 times inside 24hrs.

Portwest are leaders when it comes to outdoor clothing and this attempt is a perfect match to the type of clients they are catering for.

Hi-Tec have just entered the outdoor and hill running market and they will sponsor a pair of the latest Hi-Tec trail runners that are tailor made for such challenges.
The 13 climbers have nearly finished their grueling training schedule and are hoping to set 3 records with the one attempt.

• A  Guinness World record attempt for the most amounts of meters ascended and descended in a 24hr period.
• Break the National record of 9 climbs on the Holy mountain in one day
• Climb more meters than Everest, and go beyond the endurance required climbing the highest mountain in the world (in 24hrs), and to achieve it without leaving the country.

All funds raised from this attempt will go towards the Mayo Mtn Rescue unit and the local branch of the Red Cross, they also have a target of raising €60,280, which will work out at a €1 per foot climbed and descended per climber.
