Pacers for Strawberry Half Marathon

Reach your target time in Enniscorthy The Enniscorthy Strawberry Festival Half marathon aims to attract runners of all levels and abilities. With great prizes on offer for the top athletes and in all veteran categories Irelands top runners are sure to be on the startline. But to help those whose main ambition is to achieve a personal goal, the organisers are providing pacers to run at 1.30, 1.45, and 2.00 hour pace.

So how does the pacing work? Pacers are for anyone who wants to target a time- in this case 1:30, 1:45, or 2:00, for the half marathon. There will be two pacers for each time band, who will have helium balloons with their target time written on them. They’ll be visible at the start of the race: simply place yourself behind the correct group.

Pacers will run a steady pace throughout the race (hitting even splits throughout), and will aim for a "chip to chip" time of about 1:29:30, 1:44:30, 1:59:30. Stay with their group, encourage each other all the way around, and you’ll hit your target time

The half marathon starts at 10am and the course does not close until 1.30pm to encourage everybody to have a go. If your training has not got you up to running this distance a mixture of jogging and walking should get you round in three and a half hours.

And don’t forget there is also the 3 person relay and a 15K walk.

Finishers in all events get a free technical teeshirt, a finishers mug and free tea and sandwiches in the Riverside Park Hotel.
