crossing the quarter deck… In just over 12 days time a group of 62 people (to date) will cross my quarter deck and take on HWPT’s 4 Hour Evolution Endurance Challenge, all efforts will be made to resist ringing my ship’s bell. This challenge will see many an ego broken, but it will also see many people attaining a new found confidence in life. Mornington beach will never be the same!

If any of you are doubting your fitness for this event, please note; Fitness is not key, but a refusal to quit and gut determination to succeed is! Places are limited to 200 and I do have some left, but places are filling up fast now. Be sure of your place and book it via runireland.com today.

To everyone unsure, I would say this: Set your self a goal, sign-up and get working on push-ups and sit-ups, start thinking about the feeling that you will have after you complete your target, and come on the day with just that in mind! If you are just unsure about availability, please make the commitment, commitment is absolutely vital – without it, you have nothing if you do cross my quarter deck.

Some participants are only planning on going to the 2 hour mark, others 3 and some the whole hog – all 4 hours. Every last participant has the right attitude in life, they set their goal, they are sticking to their plan and they will all walk away having learned something invaluable about them selves.

To one and all that signs up to take my challenge, I have utmost respect for you. You are choosing to cross my Quarter deck; you are choosing to put your self through something that few others in Ireland have gone through. I have the utmost respect for you because; you are volunteering to take this challenge on in the full knowledge that it is just that, a challenge.

If you are one of those that can see the bigger picture and realise the potential this event holds for you, you will gain so much more than simply the achievement of having completed it. No matter your goal, be it 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 or 4, it requires heart, spirit and determination, you can’t complete this on your own, it requires team-work and that is exactly what you will get on the day.

Anyone that has done a bootcamp, teambuilding exercise or some arduous task together with others will tell you that the support and motivation of others is what keeps you going! In this event, you will “sublimely” learn leadership, motivation and development skills that you can apply in your own personal life. This event has huge benefits for you as a person and if you are doing it as a group, it will bring you so much closer together than ever before.

You will meet new people at this; you will all work together and learn new temperament and perspective for life.

It will be a baptism of fire, but for everyone the feeling will be the same, everyone will endure the same, everyone will walk away a stronger, better person mentally – they will have a measure of them selves. They can use this to better their lives: be it at home, in work, sports or elsewhere!

Again, if you have taken a look, wondered to your self; “is this really for me?”, and said, I’ll see how I go! The best advice I can give is just as I stated in paragraph 2 – set your self a goal, 2 hours, 3 hours, whatever – be realistic, come along on the day, join in with the 60+ others that have signed up to date and remember; The only easy day, was yesterday…
