Newtown Blues preparations in train for 2nd annual 12.5k Newtown Fun Run The Newtown Blues GFC are busy preparing for their 2nd Annual 12.5k Newtown Fun Run. Having organised the event last year to celebrate their 125th anniversary, they have stuck with the same route and distance this year. The event will be chip timed, is AAI approved and the course has been officially measured. The first 5k leaves the clubhouse in Drogheda on the Termonfeckin road and follows the River Boyne Estuary and is the fastest section of the course, the next 3k takes in historical Beaulieu House and the pretty countryside of the Newtown Stalaban and Townrath townlands, the final 4.5k is via Ballymakenny and back to the Clubhouse. There will be cash prizes for first second and third in both men’s and women’s races, a selection of Spot Prizes for participants also but most important of all the legendary Newtown Blues post race hospitality. Runners and walkers of all abilities are welcome.
