from BHAA This week, we have the Dublin City Council 5km race – that is tonight Wednesday 15 July 2009 at 7.30pm in Ringsend Park. Registration and start at Irishtown Stadium. It is a flat and fast road race really that starts and finishes on the track. Jim Kelly and his Council colleagues, the organisers, have already put on the road race in St. Anne’s Park for us earlier in the year so we are very grateful to them. If anyone is not running but will be attending, Jim could use some extra help with stewarding as some of the usual group are on holidays. If available, give Jim a call on 8166720.

Social: This year marks the 30th anniversary of the BHAA and there will be a function on Saturday 26th September 2009 at the Alexander Hotel, Dublin 2. That’s the same day as the Half Marathon.

The evening kicks off with a drinks reception, followed by dinner, live music and dancing. Prizes for the Individual Summer League will also be presented. Tickets will be on sale after the race at Irishtown Stadium and the cost per ticket is €25. Tickets are limited to two per person as we want to make sure as many BHAA members as possible get to buy tickets. There will only be 270 tickets for sale so we are encouraging members to buy tickets early to avoid disappointment. Tickets will also be available for sale from committee members Kathleen Horgan (086-4128887), Richard Dunne (087-6833012) and Deirdre FitzSimons (086-3742884).

Half marathon: If you are entering the half marathon (26/09/09), make sure you go to the end of the online entry form and tick the box to say that you are a BHAA member so that we can try to extract BHAA results afterwards.

Next race: The Hibernian track races, previously scheduled for 05 August 2009, will not now take place on that night. They have been re-scheduled for Wednesday 02 September 2009. Therefore, our next races will be the Irish Life and Permanent 3,000 metre track races on Wednesday 12th August 2009. Make sure you slot your holidays in between now and then so that you don’t miss any races.

See you tonight.
