from RTE sport website Two Dublin athletes, Alan McCormack and Linda Byrne won the senior races at the National Inter Counties Cross Country Championships at Tramore Racecourse today. McCormack took the lead in the men’s race just after the halfway point of the 10 kilometre course to win by 18 seconds from Mark Christie with Gary Murray in third place.
And in the absence of the injured Fionnuala Britton, the women’s race over 8000 metres was won today by Linda Byrne who was 29 seconds clear of Wicklow’s Deirdre Byrne at the finish with Dublin’s Hazel Murphy in third position.
Craig Murphy of Cork was the junior men’s champion and Sarah Treacy representing Meath won the junior women’s title.
Dublin won all four of the team races.
