Marrey Pyrenees Challenge 2010

Looking for a serious challenge for 2010 then this might wet your appetite, the Tour De France are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Tour De France riding over the big climbs of the Pyrenees,
 

The Climbs in the Pyrenees are renowned for been hard and over the years have been instrumental in deciding who wins the Tour De France.
Next year’s edition promises to be a real cracker with 4 stages all in the Pyrenees with a Grand finale at the summit of the Tourmalet.

The challenge
 

The Marrey challenge will consist of 4 Pyrenees climbing stages and one Sportif cycle called the (Hubert Arbes) starting and finishing in Lourdes.
The 5 days cycling will total about 850 kilometres with approx 16,000meters of climbing, see stage details below.
Making this challenge one of the hardest week’s cycling ever undertaking by an Irish group.

What’s required?
 

The fact that the challenge is over 5 stages it will be the equivalent of 5 Etape De Tours one after another….
Fitness will need to be at an optimum, so to make sure everyone is up for the challenge there will be 3 camps organised to aid you in your quest to take on the Pyrenees, all the camps will be based in the hills/mountains, see dates on booking form.

Travelling
 

The date planed for the challenge is early July.
July 2nd to 9TH Friday to Friday or stay till the 11th and travel home on the Sunday, both dates are available but the 2nd option of 2 days extra will cost a bit more for the accommodation.
Dublin – Toulouse flights costs €186.68 with Aerlingus, this includes handling fee, DOES NOT BAGS OR BIKES

Itinerary.
 

The plan is to cycle 5 out of the 7 days with maybe a day out in Lourdes for a rest day
Flights can be into Toulouse or Biarritz with either Aerlingus or Ryanair.
Bikes will have to be transported to France by Van, as the air companies will not take 20 bikes,
We plan staying in the same accommodation for the entire trip, using short bus & van transfers to get to stage starts but finishing of the day by cycling back to the accommodation.

COST
 

Total cost for accommodation, Breakfast, Dinner (with drinks), transfers to airports & stage starts, bike transfer of bikes to France by land and sea, bike guides, and entry to Sportif will be €850 this does not include flights or insurance.
