Marcus Lawler Breaks Irish Youth Record

Marcus Lawler (CBS Carlow) broke the long standing Irish Youth Record at the Aviva All Ireland Schools’ Track and Field Championships in Tullamore Stadium on the 2nd of June . Lawler’s winning time of 10.72 for the 100m was an Irish Youth Record.

The time put Lawler .01 below the old mark held by Colman O’Flaherty (10.73), which has stood since 1978. For good measure Lawler returned to the track later in the programme and won the 200m (21.64)

These impressive performances follow on from Lawler’s victory over 200m at the recent Woodie’s DIY AAI Games, where his time of 21.42 was also an Irish Youth Record.
