GloHealth, Ireland’s most innovative health insurer and Athletics Ireland today announced GloHealth’s sponsorship of the Fit4Life programme. This programme is aimed at all recreational runners and those who want to increase their level of fitness allowing them to achieve their personal wellbeing goals by participating with a group of like-minded people.

Runners are grouped by ability for training sessions, allowing participants to train at an appropriate level whether they are total beginners or regular runners. A qualified Fit4Life leader, who has been trained by Athletics Ireland’s coaching team, sets out the training schedules, aimed towards getting just about anyone off the couch and fit enough to take on their first 5km challenge. Fit4Life members then often push on to 10km or make the leap to a 10 mile run and beyond.

Olympic and World medallist Sonia O’Sullivan commented “The Fit4life programme allows people to improve their fitness by increasing their level of physical activity and fitness in a fun and social setting. The great thing about running as part of a group is that there is a lot of energy in mass participation that drives the adrenalin in each person, and this allows us to run quicker and further than is normally possible on your day to day runs. You will push yourself more and be surprised with what you can achieve!”

Speaking about the partnership Jim Dowdall, CEO of GloHealth said “GloHealth is delighted to sponsor Athletics Ireland’s Fit4Life programme which encourages and supports people across Ireland maintain an active lifestyle and improve the quality of their health and wellbeing.”

Commenting on the sponsorship, John Foley, CEO of Athletics Ireland said “One of the key objectives of the Athletics Ireland Strategic Plan 2013-2016 is to promote health and fitness to the population

as a whole. By partnering with GloHealth over the next three years we have a significant opportunity to really make an impact on both the health and fitness of people throughout the country”

The sponsorship of Athletics Ireland compliments the recent launch of GloHealth’s advertising campaign entitled ‘#RunnersAreAmazing’ which focussed on people taking control of their health, by selecting from GloHealth’s innovative range of health insurance plans.

As an added incentive, people who join their local Fit4Life group can claim €30 back on their

Athletics Ireland membership with GloHealth’s Family & Kids’ Health and Sports Cover packages.
