
Leevale athlete Lizzie Lee has won the M3 Monavea Women’s Mini Marathon None
Leevale athlete Lizzie Lee has won the M3 Monavea Women’s Mini Marathon. Hampered by the windy conditions, the Leevale AC runner completed the course in 27:31.
Second place went to Deirdre Doyle, Tinryland AC who finished in a time of 28:35. She was followed in third and fourth place by Margaret Tonart from Templemore and and Sinead Maher, St Michael’s AC with times of 28:45 and 28:52:respectively. First St Abban’s lady home in 7th place was Teresa Agar in a time of 31:46 and in 9th position was Colette English in a time of 32:47.
The roads of Monavea, Co Laois were a hive of acivity from early morning when runners, joggers and walkers from far and near descended on St Abban’s AC sports complex for the 4th annual M3 Monavea Women’s Mini Marathon as a field of almost 250 athletes helped to make it an enjoyable day.
Officially started by Actress and Model, Vivienne Connolly the race both started and finished at St Abban’s AC sports grounds, as the runners, joggers and walkers worked their way through 7km of the surounding countryside.
