Cope Galway Welly Race
Guinness World Record Attempt

That’s the message from Boston Scientific staff as they prepare to take on the Guinness World Record for the Largest Wellington Boot Race.

Staff at Boston Scientific are putting on their wellies to help smash the Guinness World Record on 12th September as they race around their facility in Ballybrit, all in aid of their charity of the year, COPE Galway. The current record for the Largest Wellington Boot Race was set in the UK last year, in which 1,366 people participated. For the attempt to succeed, the organisers expect over 1,500 participants will be needed to secure the title for Galway.

HR Director and Chair of the company’s Charity Committee, Alan Murphy, said:

“The event will be the largest charity event we’ve ever organised and we’re delighted to be able to offer all the proceeds to help COPE Galway, to help create a new childcare facility at their Waterside House Domestic Violence Refuge for Women and Children. We’d like to encourage fellow welly racers from across the city to join us on the 12th September for a great cause and who knows maybe even be part of a new Guinness World Record for Galway. ”

The event takes place on Sunday 12th September at the Boston Scientific facility, Ballybrit Business Park, Galway. The race taking place at 2pm, with registration at 12 noon. All proceeds to COPE Galway.
